The following information is from the Vintage Fashion Guild Label Resource site & my thanks to them :

Evan-Picone was formed in 1949 as a partnership between Charles Evans and Joseph Picone. Their first product was a fly-front skirt designed by Evans and produced at Picone's shop. Their skirts were a success, and they added ladies pants as well. By the 1960s they were a major manufacturer of sportswear.

In 1962, the company was sold to Revlon, but Picone bought the business back 4 years later. In the 1980s, Evan-Picone's focus changed from sportswear to clothing for the career woman, and the company was acquired by the Jones Apparel Group.

THIS GORGEOUS HEAVENLY BLUE FULL-FASHIONED SWEATER IS FROM THE EARLY 1960’s PER THE LABEL ON THE VINTAGE FASHION GUILD SITE - THE COLOR IS FABULOUS IN A HEAVENLY BLUE SHADE - THE FABRIC IS SOFT BUT THERE IS NO TAG SO I DO NOT KNOW IF IT IS CASHMERE OR SOME OTHER TYPE OF FABRIC BUT IT IS SOFT & THICK - I AM WEARING A CASHMERE SWEATER AS I WRITE THIS & IT FEELS VERY MUCH LIKE IT BUT SINCE THERE ARE NO FABRIC TAGS, I CANNOT SAY WHAT THE FABRIC IS - THE PLEATED RUFFLES DOWN THE FRONT AS WELL AS ON THE SLEEVES ARE SO SPECIAL & FEMININE - THERE ARE CRISP FOLDS IN THE SLEEVES AS THOUGH IT MAY NOT HAVE BEEN WORN - JUST A GORGEOUS VINTAGE 60’s RUFFLELY HEAVENLY BLUE SWEATER BY EVAN PICONE

Designer: Evan Picone
Size: No tag but I wear a size 8 - 10 & it fit me
Fabric: No tag but luscious soft & thick sweater fabric
Approximate measurements :
Bust: 41-1/2
Waist: 37
Hips: bottom of sweater unstretched 36
Length: in back 24: sleeve from neck 29-7/8
Condition: Very good - mfg tag needs a few stitches to attach on one side - some light fading on the shoulders (which no one will see as they would have to be over 6 feet tall looking down on the top of the shoulders) & some on the ruffles which I did not see until closely examining it in the bright light - some light pilling on ruffles on cuffs which can be removed with a piller
Care: Dry clean

We examine each item carefully and note any imperfections, but unless an item is said to be NEW, please don't expect it to be perfect & even some new items have small imperfections. Please remember that unless specified that the item is new, all items have been used and will show varying signs of use/wear. I may miss a small imperfection but we always list the obvious ones to the best of our abilities. However, some slight imperfections that will not show or affect wearing/using the item may slip by or not be considered worth mentioning.

Vintage nightgowns & peignoirs may be delicate so I do not wash them in the machine. I wash them in lukewarm water with Woolite or some other mild soap, rinse & hang dripping wet in the shower.

Since these are vintage items, a bit of extra care needs to be taken with them so they remain beautiful & I DEFINITELY would never put a vintage nightgown or a peignoir in the dryer as it would ruin it.

The items are sold as we find them. We do not dry clean, launder, alter or repair vintage clothing and they should be cleaned or washed upon arrival. Please make your selection carefully & check the measurements as there is no return on clothing or other items.
