* VINTAGE GEORGE F COUTURE FORTUNY LOOK PLEATED EVENING GOWN IN QUEEN OF HEARTS RED

$ 699.99

A very glamorous vintage pleated Fortuny-look George F. Couture evening gown in a gorgeous shade called Queen of Hearts Red.  An absolutely stunning color!

The label is missing but I have sold 5 of these evening gowns over my 22 years in business now and I can spot this brand anywhere!  This wonderful brand was sold only in very expensive and the finest stores such as I. Magnin, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman & Saks Fifth Avenue.  Some of these wonderful stores are no longer in business unfortunately.

The evening gown is composed of hundreds of tiny pleats with a V neckline.  There is a surplice bodice which criss-crosses the front of the gown and then encircles one’s waist which will whittle it down to nothing and forms a cummerbund.  There is an invisible zipper in back along with very tiny hooks and eyes.  The neckline and ends of the sleeves have matching satin piping on them.

The bodice is lined but the skirt has such much fabric that a lining in the skirt is not necessary.  There are tons of tiny pleats in the evening gown which makes for a beautiful look.   Ruffled lettuce leaf hem for a look of glamour.

Just a stunning evening gown which would be perfect for the Christmas holidays, Valentine's Day, a formal affair, a cruise or mother of the bride or groom.

 Absolutely gorgeous!

By: No tag but it is a George F. Couture - New York
Size: Tag says Size 12 but that is vintage sizing which changed in the
70s and no longer applies. It fit my size 6 mannequin very well but go by the measurements for a good fit as it may fit another size as well - maybe a Size 8 possibly.
Approximate Measurements – The measurements of the item listed – not of your own figure.  You must be a few inches smaller than the measurements shown.
Bust:  37 – 38 stretched
Shoulder to shoulder:  16-1/8
Waist:   32
Hips:  36 unstretched & could stretch a bit but leave a few inches for movement & do not stretch to the maximum or the pleats will not hang properly
Sleeve from neck:  Nearly 27
Length:   57 - 58 but the dress will be a bit shorter when a body is inside it
Fabric: Silky poly
Care: Tag inside the lower skirt states to "Hand wash and do not dry clean" as the cleaners would probably take the pleats out
Condition: Very good

Care Instructions

We examine each item carefully and note any imperfections, but unless an item is said to be new, please don't expect it to be perfect & even some new items have small imperfections. I will always state in the description if there are any imperfections & I never do repairs but leave them to others who are better able to do them than me as that is not my expertise.

Please remember that unless specified all items have been used and will show varying signs of use or wear. We always list the obvious imperfections to the best of our abilities. However, some slight imperfections that will not show or affect wearing or using the item may slip by or not be considered worth mentioning.

Vintage nightgowns & peignoirs may be delicate so I do not wash them in the machine. I wash them in lukewarm water with Woolite or some other mild soap, then rinse & hang dripping wet in the shower.

Since these are vintage items, a bit of extra care needs to be taken with them so they remain beautiful & I definitely would never put a vintage nightgown or a peignoir in the dryer as it would ruin it.

The items are sold as we find them. We do not dry clean, launder, alter or repair vintage clothing and they should be cleaned or washed upon arrival. Please make your selection carefully & check the measurements as there is no return on clothing or other items.
